Today we are going to tell you in this blog that why snake is wrapped around the neck of Lord Shiva all the time. And how did he get in his throat?

There are many stories about it.

1) The serpent who lives in the neck of Shiva Shankar is none other than Vasuki, the king of serpents. Those who are wrapped around the neck of Bholenath all the time. According to a legend, Vasuki was a great devotee of Lord Shiva. It is believed that the people of the Naag caste were the first to start the practice of worshiping Shivling. Pleased with Vasuki’s devotion, Lord Shiva asked him to ask for a boon. Then Nagraj asked for a boon to serve him by including him in his ganas like the rest of his ganas. From then on Lord Shankar held him around his neck.

2) It is also called so. When Vasudev was quietly saving Kanha (Lord Krishna) from the prison of Kansa and bringing him to Gokul. Then Vasuki Naag saved him from the heavy rain and the storm of Yamuna. Not only this, during the churning of the ocean, Vasuki Naag was churned in the form of a rope wrapped around Mount Meru, due to which his entire body was bled. After this, when Neelkanth Bhagwan had to drink poison. Then other serpents including Vasuki also helped Lord Shiva and took the poison. According to the Puranas, Vasuki has Nagmani on his head. And all kinds of gems are the right of the snake king Vasuki. Lord Shankar loves his ride like Nandi. And this is the reason why Shiva and Shivling are considered incomplete without Naag.
